Meandering With The Interim: Blessings

Blessings; do they come by chance, a wish or are they bestowed by God? Well, you can already imagine my response, bestowed by God is my answer and I am sticking to it. I can also imagine you think because I am a priest it is part of my “obligation” to acknowledge. I do acknowledge blessings come from God not because I have to say it, but because I have experienced it in myself and others. “The Blessings of God”, just like the “Peace of God” surrounds us daily. This is where this quote seems so appropriate:

“The real issue in life is not how many blessings we have, but what we do with our blessings. Some people have many blessings and hoard them. Some have few and give everything away.”

What do you do with your “blessings” and your “peace”? In the middle of the Eucharist after the confession we stand and share God’s Blessing in the Peace. It is a time to offer and contribute our God given Blessing on another.

As we begin this Easter Season let us share and accept the Blessing and Peace of Jesus.
