Welcoming Rev. Deacon Gina Griffith

I am delighted to welcome the Rev. Deacon Gina Griffith to St. John’s. Deacon Griffith will serve as our vocational deacon through Jan. 4, 2026. Gina comes to us from St. Mark’s in St. Albans, where she has served as a deacon for several years. Her time with us will be an opportunity for intentional learning through her internship. Gina will focus on liturgical service as a deacon, offering formation, learning how to bring the needs of the world to the church and the church to the needs of the world, offering pastoral care as a deacon, and engaging in some preaching opportunities.

You, the parishioners of St. John’s, play a vital role in Gina’s diaconal internship. We are called to pray for Gina as she is continually formed in her servant leadership as a deacon. We are to give her grace as she tries new liturgical practices, offers pastoral care, preaches, and teaches. We are to offer her caring feedback in a spirit of love. We are to be thankful that Bishop Cowden entrusted St. John’s to aid in forming one of our diocesan deacons. We are to be present for her when she teaches. We are to show her Christ’s love and courage as we walk forward together as the body of Christ.
