Spiritual Contaminant!

Addiction is a spiritual contaminate; it is a disease of our soul.

I have learned this first from the literature, and then through personal experience. While recently reflecting on forty years of sobriety from abuse of alcohol, I have accepted that the process of self-discovery is a lifelong journey. I must continue building a spiritual foundation to avoid a relapse. Real connection with my God is a sacred foundation of many more years of sobriety and a happy and productive life.

I write this as a member of a very large recovery community in the Charleston, WV area. My experience is that recovery is important for escape from any addiction – alcoholism, drugs, gambling, shopping, sex, debt, exercise, work, self, food –you name it.

We all have one or more of these. They contaminate and result in disconnection the from true self and a loving God. I stand ready to help. Please feel free to contact me with any questions through the church office.
