Feeding My Spirit

The Episcopal Church welcomes everyone. Welcoming everyone has never been more important than in our lives today. St John’s is an extremely welcoming church of which I am very proud to be a lifelong member. St. John’s is one of very few places where I am accepted as who I am.

In 2023, the Evangelism and Parish Life ministry teams were combined into the Congregational Life ministry. Since that time, Brian Hamra and I have co-chaired this team. As we plan each event, I am reminded of how much I enjoy having a party! I have always enjoyed welcoming and feeding people, only one form of Evangelism.

A huge part of what feeds my spiritual life is the ability to feed each of you. Not just refreshments, but sharing St. Johns, sharing the eucharist, watching as God loves each and every one of us in our lives. At times, any of us may come to the altar in broken pieces. We look put together but are not. To be together in a spiritual community fills me each week.

St. John’s is my spiritual home, away from home with each of you. As I share in feeding you, I am fed by all of you. My dream is that, one day, new and old members will feel continually fed by one another in all aspects, and especially the events Congregational Life hosts, which is one of my joys.
