SAGA at St. John’s Creates New Mission Statement
At the request of the Vestry for each ministry of St. John's to prepare a mission statement, SAGA approved at our August Meeting the following statement for our ministry:
OUR MISSION:
As a viable ministry of St. John’s, SAGA strives to support the LGBTQ+ community of Kanawha County and to live out our baptismal commitment to treat every human being with dignity and respect.
OUR VALUES:
Integrity; Dignity; Respect; Honor; Safety; Confidentiality; Community Engagement; Deliberation; Dialogue.
OUR GOALS:
1. Provide a loving and respectful environment where LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies can meet each month in a safe place to freely discuss concerns centered around local issues and to engage with the greater community in LGBTQ+ friendly events.
2. Provide help and distribute information to LGBTQ+ youth on SAGA and existing community services and how to access these programs.
3. Coordinate with social service agencies by engaging in community dialogue to strengthen services and address gaps in service delivery to LGBTQ+ youth.
