Intergenerational Event: Christingle Workshop
Mark your calendars for an intergenerational Christingle Workshop on Sunday, Dec. 21, right after church in Room 109. Together, we will assemble the symbolic Christingles that will be lit during the 4 p.m. Christmas Eve service.
The process involves transforming a simple orange (the world) into a symbol of Christ’s love. The red tape around the center indicates Jesus’ arms around us. Earth’s people, represented by varied dried fruits, appear at all points of a compass which is made of aluminum foil on top. The finished product has a single Christ candle in the middle that shines all around the globe. (See illustration.)
Small hands may need adult assistance, so grab a cup of coffee and join us!
The completed Christingles will be distributed to the children and lit at the end of the service as “Silent Night” is sung. They, in turn, will light the adults’ candles, symbolizing the spreading of God’s love for all. For safety reasons, glow sticks will be provided for younger children.
