Our Flower Guild Needs Volunteers!

More hands do make light work, and we need more hands

Our Flower Guild was established during 2024 to create and provide beautiful altar arrangements for the Holy Eucharist every Sunday, and occasionally, for other special events. Some may recall we had an arrangement with Food Among the Flowers, for at least 30 years, where they’d arrange and deliver altar flowers every Saturday morning and the Atar Guild would place them on the altar. Then the Flower Guild was created. Its members select and purchase small bouquets of flowers, supplemented by flowers and greenery from their personal gardens, and supplies they keep in their work area, which includes a refrigerator, in the alcove leading to the garden from Hunter Hall.

The Flower Guild is made up of flower lovers, rather than expert arrangers, and report they are constantly learning. They claim to have had some “oops” moments, but this writer doesn’t recall those, rather remembering the beauty and fullness the arrangements bring to the altar week in and week out.

Our Flower Guild is seeking volunteers to take a turn arranging the bouquets. You’d sign up for the Sunday’s you’re willing to cover. If this sparks your interest, please contact Cindy Melton or Robin O'Brien through the church office and they’ll walk you through the process. You can also sign up by placing your name in the Flower Guild Book Notebook and choose the date(s) that best suits you. It’s located on the Information table at the back of the Nave.
